January Spiritual Ethoughts Monthly This is often the time when we make decisions and plans for the new year. I think many times we want the same things we wanted in the old year. It is up to our patience and perseverance to reach our destination. James 5:7 “Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains.” It is God’s grand design to culture patience within us. In patience we receive it by being stretched by our trails. Of all the lessons to learn I think I find the acquisition of patience the most difficult mainly because it comes by such hard work. Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. -Thomas Alva Edison May God grant you the strength to persevere in this new year to reach His highest plan for you as to accomplish His will and bring Him glory. The rock band U2 sings a song whose lyric says, “Nothing changes on New Year’s Day.” In a sense that is true. The calendar is only a marking point; our struggles remain. We can use the date to set our sights again on our objectives and on becoming more like the One we love. Our battle is perseverance is life-long. Re-commitment is to be a regular event. Be encouraged to re-double your efforts or begin anew. We are meant to have the patience of God. We have a patient, long-suffering God and it is our destiny to be like Him. People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing-that's why we recommend it daily. -Zig Ziglar |
